John 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Lighthas come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

I have strongly seen as a Christian two sides of a very sad battle that has seemed to go on for some time now: people who believe Christians are judgmental and feel judged by Christians, and Christians who do just that. Jesus was not sent to condemn the world! It says right here plain in the Bible. I feel like this is the core of what Christ followers believe happens to those who do not follow Jesus. But the most common of these verses is verse 16, because it is the simplest and most foundational way to explain what we are believing in as we follow Christ and what God's purpose was behind the death of Christ.

Lord, we thank You so much for your truth and for Your son who died for us! We thank You for passages and verses like these that show us basic theology that is key to believe in and follow You! We love You and thank You for Your truth and son.  Amen!
