Psalm 130

Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
    Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from all their sins.”
What is something that we need and require every day?
Forgiveness.
This Psalm is the voice of someone who is in a dark place. He understands that he has done wrong in the eyes of the Lord; begging for God to listen. God knows everything and is everywhere and is all powerful, the writer fully comprehends how great and mighty the Lord is; and he cries to God in complete repentance. He waits for the Lord; he puts his hope and urges Israel to put their hope, in His Word. He has the understanding of God’s unfailing love and restoration.
I love this passage, because it shows our humanity and how much we need God our Father. He is gracious and He is merciful, He loves us so greatly, that He sent His son to die for us. To give us a way around death, eternal life with Him.
Dear God,
Thank you so much for being there when we need you; to know that when we have sinned, we can always come to you and ask for your forgiveness with a repenting heart. Thank you for giving us a way to be with you forever. Please lead us away from evil and worldly things, and help our eyes be fixed on you through any battles we may go through. Thank you for loving us so much, thank you for being unconditional.
-Amen.
