We have been challenged to do something everyday for 100 days, so we decided to both write about a Bible passage and then to post about it to this blog! We hope you will be blessed by this challenge as much as we are!

Matthew 11:25-30
25 "At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
This passage has definitely been one of the most comforting/one of my most favorite passages in my life personally. I went through a time in my high school years where I was questioning a lot about God, Christianity, etc. and wondering if my faith was really a decision I had made, or if I was just going with it. Matthew 11:28-30 were verses that we were challenged to memorize up at a Christian camp my church goes to every year, Hume Lake. I was supposed to talk with my youth pastor about faith and God, and my questions. While I waited for him, I found these verses (they gave us little booklets with the verses we're supposed to memorize) as I flipped through the booklet. I definitely needed to know and be reminded that Jesus is the giver of rest. He is gentle, and will give us rest! These characteristics are exactly the kind a Father should have.
I have read Matthew before but I didn't really focus in on the other verses in this particular passage because I had fallen so in love with 28-30. But looking and rereading them now, they are spectacular. So often people think we are so smart and advanced, which I must admit our generation really has come a long, long way. But it will never be anything compared to the vast knowledge of God, who knows everything... and yet He doesn't reveal His wisdom to big-shot smart people... He reveals it to children. Children, who are innocent and still learning. Another fatherly characteristic.
I can honestly say that verse 27 is a very mysterious verse. Does this mean we don't know the Father and Jesus? My gut feeling of what this verse means is we'll never be able to fully understand them, because our human minds can't comprehend their greatness and vastness. Yet... He still loves me and wants a relationship with me? Awesome!!
Dear Lord, I thank you so much for this passage. I thank You that You comfort us and call us to come to you when we are weary. Thank you for revealing Yourself to us and for having such beautiful characteristics as a Father. We love you and praise You! Go before us and all around us today :) Amen
